You can still help! Our fundraising objective was to supply the Institute
for Transportation & Development Policy (ITDP) with money to
help the people of Tanzania access sustainable transportation options. Make
an online contribution to continue ITDP's important work!
Contributors will receive Sustainable
Transport, ITDP's annual magazine; Transport Actions, ITDP's biennial
newsletter; and the satisfaction that you are sustaining the only organization
dedicated solely to creating and implementing sustainable transportation policies
and projects worldwide.
A big THANK
YOU!!! Our
New Zealand expedition was generously funded by the Yosemite
National Institutes and the Matthew
Baxter Memorial Fund.

The
Matthew Baxter Memorial Fund
We are deeply honored to be recipients of this year's Yosemite National
Institutes "Matthew Baxter Award." A friend and colleague
from Yosemite Institute, Matt died while climbing El Capitan in 1996.
The Fund was established by his family and friends to remember and
perpetuate Matthew's spirit of adventure, compassion, and enthusiasm
for life! In addition to inspiring our family to set such challenging
goals for ourselves, this generous grant will cover our family's travel
expenses, truly making this project a possibility. Matt will be riding
along with us the entire journey!
Burley
Both our children and our expedition luggage will be hauled behind
us in strong lightweight Burley trailers. Both of our girls have been
riding in these incredible rigs since the moment they could hold their
heads up! Mom and Dad love their brilliant engineering, easy breakdown,
and safe comfy seating. The girls consider them their "rolling
fort," and are happy (usually) to bump along for hours, waist-deep
in books and stuffed animals. We thank Burley for generous discounts
on their gear!
Clif Bar
3-year old Eliza begs for these on a regular basis! The folks at ClifBar,
recognizing that the success or failure of our entire journey might
very well hinge on a single "Lemon Zest" LUNA bar produced
by Mommy during a critical tantrum, were good enough to donate a few
cases! We plan to mail them to ourselves as care packages across New
Zealand.
Dublin Cyclery
Chuck Tyler was racing and touring before any of us were born, and
still gets that sparkle in his eye when he talks about his next ride!
Thanks for your great advice, equipment ideas, and maintenance expertise!
Cycle Touring
Company, Ltd
Paul Doherty of "Cycle Touring" phones us up from New Zealand
at 5:00am one California morning, offering to collect us at the Auckland
airport upon our arrival. Standing there in the dark living room in
my boxers, I'm rather surprised and amazed by his generosity as he
offers to drive the whole family and all our gear up to Cape Reinga,
our starting point. That's a 7-hour drive.... Thank You Paul!
Chromagraphics, Santa Rosa, CA
These graphic design wizards donated much time and material to our
cause, producing a beautiful promotional piece that we will be handing
out while on tour! Thanks Eric, Becky and Katie!
Web Development and Consulting: Vince Nibler & Jamie Low
Is this site great or what? Jamie and Vince have put in countless
hours of time creating this interactive website to help promote our
expedition! We thank them for their expertise and committment to helping
us raise awareness and funds for sustainable transportation projects.
