In the Fall of 2001, the Amstutz Family traveled "down under" on an adventurous family fundraising expedition! With their two daughters bumping along in a bike trailer, the Amstutz's cycled the full length of New Zealand from north to south (over 2,300 kilometers!).

The primary goal of this project was to educate and raise awareness about non-polluting transportation solutions around the world. To give more depth to their trip, and to illustrate this educational goal, the Amstutz's raised almost $5,000 in donations to support  village bicycle transportation programs in Tanzania.

These projects are being implemented by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), which has worked in developing countries since 1985 to promote sustainable transportation and affordable access to markets, jobs, schools and health care .
